Bishop Flaherty Assembly

Navigator's Message

Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” St Francis of Assisi

Sir Knights and Ladies:

ImageWe have before us a new year and a new decade. Barbara and I wish all a blessed and prosperous future and express our hopes in your continued success in all of your endeavors. You are the Bishop Flaherty Assembly and as attested by the superb support you have enthusiastically rendered in the past year you certainly work the wonderful if not the impossible. My prayer is for the continuation of Assembly efforts in promoting Patriotism and the encouragement of like minded brothers to join our ranks. We have an exemplification coming in Fredericksburg on Saturday May 22 that will be followed by the Fall exemplification in Richmond on Saturday October 23, 2010. An effort spearheaded by our Faithful Captain Sir Knight Thom Harrington is advertising the dedication of the new All Saints Church in August as a call to third degree Knights to complete their fourth Degree in order to actively participate in the dedication.

"liberty and justice for all" ~ means all human life!
ImageAs you all know, we have been adding the words "for the born and the unborn" to the end of the Pledge of Allegiance for a long time. As you also know, these words are not part of the official Pledge of Allegiance, which ends with the words "with liberty and justice for all".

The Supreme Council continues to fight the battle on behalf of all of us to keep the words "under God" in our official pledge. They will continue to fight this battle. They will also continue the battle to defend Life from conception until natural end. All of us can be proud of their efforts in both of these areas.

BEST POEM IN THE WORLD
Author unknown
I was shocked, confused, bewildered as I entered Heaven's door, Not by the beauty of it all, nor the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in Heaven who made me sputter and gasp-- the thieves, the liars, the sinners, the alcoholics, the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thought was rotting away in hell, was sitting pretty on cloud nine, looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake." "And why's everyone so quiet, so somber?" "Give me a clue." "Hush, child," said He, "they're all in shock No one thought they'd be seeing you."
